Transferring a domain name from one company to another commonly entails the use of a special transfer authorization code, which different registrar companies refer to as an EPP authorization code, a domain password or an Auth code. This code can be used as a security measure against unauthorized transfers with all gTLD and with most ccTLD extensions. The code can be obtained only by the domain name owner and is provided by the present domain registrar company. It must be given to the new domain name registrar company because the transfer process cannot be initiated without it. The code is case-sensitive and normally includes numbers and special characters, so as to stop unauthenticated people from deciphering it. Some domain name registrars even alter the codes of domains registered through them after a certain amount of time for better security.
EPP Transfer Protection in Cloud Hosting
If you’ve got a domain name registered through us and you have a cloud hosting account with us, obtaining its EPP authorization code is exceptionally easy. You won’t have to sign in and out of different interfaces, since you can administer all your domains via the very same Hepsia Control Panel, which is used to manage your shared web hosting account. You will see all existing domains the moment you sign in and to the right of the domains whose extensions require an EPP code in order to be transferred away, you will notice a tiny EPP icon. All it takes to get the code is to click on the icon. The code is always sent to the domain name registrant’s mailbox, so in case the one that you specified at first is not valid any longer, you can change it with a few clicks of the mouse from the exact same section.
EPP Transfer Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
In case you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company and you’ve registered a domain name that you would like to transfer, you can obtain the EPP transfer code surprisingly easy through the Hepsia Control Panel, via which you’ll administer both your domain names and your account. If you go to the Registered Domains section, you’ll find an EPP sign on the right side of your domains, as long as their TLD extensions support transfers between domain registrars with such a code. All codes are emailed automatically by our system to the registrant’s email to ensure that only the owner of the domain name can receive this information. If the currently entered address is not valid any longer, you can modify it with a few clicks of the mouse without needing to leave this section of the Control Panel. The change is instant, so you will be able to request the EPP transfer code for the specific domain name straight away.
